Hi Bill,

I think this should be examined in terms of nodelist size, cpu speed
AND hard disc size.  When I joined Fidonet the nodelist was around 1000 nodes.
My hard disc was 20Mb and cpu ran at 8Mhz.  The nodelist is now 32 times as
large, my hard disc is 32.5 times as large and my cpu speed is around 12 times
as fast, your figures will be different but maybe similar.  The problem,
although noticable, is not acute by any means.

I agree with the suggestions and anything that can be done by ANY
region will help, but this "should" be handled by the FTSC and I fear they are
not going to do anything until the nodelist actually starts to fall apart, which
will be either at 32767 nodes (for some software) or 65535 nodes for the rest
<grin>.
